Thanks Gary, Michael and Colin for the responses and suggestions.  Definitely
I'd like to follow up on the Yeats/O'Casey business.  *Imagined Communities*
is the only major work I've read on nationalism, and it's on my list for
several reasons.  I'll locate the others, which look very promising.

One side note: Margaret Archer seems to credit Gellner pretty highly in
*Realist Social Theory*, so I was interested that both Michael and Colin, in
different degrees, take some distance from him.  Either of you care to
elaborate?
