Ralph, i always recommend Outhwaite's "New Philosophies ..." as an
introductory text to Critical Realism.  But of course, if you remember you
not only have a copy of this book, you have read it ... it is the realist
text comparing CR to hermeneutics and critical theory.

Reality is o.k. but i don't feel it to be successful as an introductory text.
 It functions better as a quick re-read of Bhaskar.  In any event, you should
defintely take a look at Plato Etc. and Dialectic (in that order); you won't
necessarily need to have read RTS or PON ... but it won't hurt if you do:-)
 You are so well rehearsed in Marxian philosophy and philosophy of science
that RTS will be a quick read, and DCR won't cause any more problem than it
does for the rest of us.
