I suppose this was accentuated by the fact that I arrived from Australia - the 'tyrrany of distance' still holds sway notwithstanding the power of the Internet. Next to the excitement of immersion in a flood of ideas was the real pleasure I got from meeting people from the Bhaskar list - Colin, Howie and Howard. There were no negatives in the conference experience for me. Warwick was beautiful and the food was amazing and I even rediscovered a liking for English beer. But the experience of not being able to purchase a copy of Dialectic: The Pulse of Freedom at the uni bookshop was a sharp reminder to me of the work that has to be done before we can claim that Critical Realism is the coming paradigm. regards Gary --- from list bhaskar-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
