I think it would be a service to the list if those familiar with the 
London debate would fill us in.  I am very fuzzy about the 
distinction being suggested and did not know that it had anything 
to do with a split between social scientists and philosophers.  
Also, Gary, you have referred to the difference between CR and 
DCR in a recent post.  Could you give us your summary of the 
substantive points at issue?

I have a colleague who read the brief report taken from the web site 
regarding Robert Young's presentation on "Critical Cultural Studies, 
Materialism and Race" at the Essex Conference and he is very  
interested in getting in touch with him.  Do you (or anyone else)
