I've made my own differences with Howie on this topic pretty clear; what I'm really interested in is why the concept of real causal structure x of y will not suffice for dialectical critical realism -- why, in your view, Bhaskar needs alethic truth instead. I genuinely can't figure this out, and am disarmed by it. It's nice to know WHY someone thinks what they think, even if you disagree with what they think, and for the life of me I can't understand what the attachment is to this idea. I keep thinking that the problem is that I don't know German idealism. I promise I won't get you in to a whole long exchange, I'm just really curious.
