I'm sorry, but I cannot see that anyone in the current discussion adresses the *arguments* that Adorno *actually makes*, as set out in my email, headed 'Gaps', on 17th December in the last millennium. Tobin confuses thinking with hallucination; Carrol conflates what Kant or Bhaskar have done or do with what we're doing; and Ruth evades the arguments, as Colin has in effect pointed out, by seeking to dismiss them as internally related to a (somewhat) different theoretical perspective, as though they had no bearing outside that perspective - while her point about Kant is actually in Adorno's favour (and what is one to make of her suggestion that Adorno's critique of idealism 'would extend to RB's critical realism'??). -- Mervyn Hartwig 13 Spenser Road Herne Hill London SE24 ONS United Kingdom Tel: 44 (0)171 737 2892 Email: mh-AT-jaspere.demon.co.uk --- from list bhaskar-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
