From: "Tobin Nellhaus" <nellhaus-AT-gis.net> Subject: Re: BHA: comments on terminology Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2000 12:58:01 -0500 Hi Mervyn-- Thanks for the citations. RB's discussion on these pages mainly concerns theory/practice inconsistencies, which is important, but obviously does not exhaust the issue of how meaning and thought are entwined in behavior. On this score, actually, Foucault has some interesting things to say. But I'll save that discussion for another day I think. The article is "Signs, Social Ontology, and Critical Realism," Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour 28.1 (1998): 1-24. I've rethought a couple of minor points, and found one embarrassing but basically inconsequential blooper, but on the whole I still think the argument is sound, and naturally it's incumbent upon me to encourage the world to read it! But I have to hold onto the few offprints I have left, sorry. If you do read it, I'll be interested in your remarks.
