We are not molecular biologist however molecular biologists are humans like us who have acquired knowledge which we can acquire exactly in the same ways as they did. Many of us here do actually ask or get journals and read them to find out for ourselves the mysteries of nature. At times it is good and at times is bad to read such things but for a CR it is very good. Let us chronologically try to find out ourselves what AIDS is and how HIV becomes to be what it is. 1. In 1975 Howard Termin / David Baltimore discovers what is called REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE or RT. RT can be termed as retroviruses which contain RNA instead of DNA (see below) as their genetic material or in lay mans language their structural configuration. These so called retroviruses depended on the enzymes, reverse transcriptase to convert the code (structural configuration ) contained as RNA in order to become DNA. 2. In 1980 Robert Gallo discovers what is termed as Human T-cell leukaemia virus or HTLV , viruses associated blood cancer. 3. In 1983 Montaguine submits a paper on the 20th May 1983 entitled, "Isolation of T-lymphotropic Retrovirus". It is said the virus was isolated from blood samples of a 33 year old man in the US suffering from AIDS, it is said the man lived for the next 10 years after this discovery. You can get the paper and read it. 4. In the same year in 1983 a man by the name Gallo credited to have discovered the HIV virus produces a paper published on the 11th may 1984 entitled " Antigens on HTLV infected cells by leukaemia and AIDS sera related to HTLV. HTLV means Human T-cell leukaemia virus or HTLV I -II . The same virus actually discovered by the same man Robert Gallo in 1980! 5. In 1984 Uganda experiences her first case of slim also scientifically called AIDS if you want to call it so. At least that is the general view according to observations and discussion I've had with Uganda's most educated researchers in the area. 6. On 14th December 1983 Abraham Karpas a leukaemia researcher at the Dept. of Haematological medicine at Cambridge University comes up with a paper entitle " Molecular Biology in Medicine " he had discovered by electron microscope pictures of a virus called Lymphodenopathy Associated Virus or LAV. 7. In may 1986 the International Taxonomy of viruses agree that Gallo's Human T-cell leukaemia virus or (HTLV I - II) and Karpas's Lymphodenopathy Associated Virus or (LAV) are identical therefore they should be called human immunodeficiency virus or HIV. 8. Polio vaccine launched in the central and the great lakes region were launched in 1958 among thousands of children according to what I have read. We are informed that people with Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS die in three to five /six years. I wonder how many of these children died if the case is such that this polio vaccine is linked to AIDS causing virus HIV or other viruses derived from polio vaccine developmed from monkeys or Africans habits of eating chimpanzees- the chimapanze arm AIDS theory! 9. Prior to HIV discovery i.e HTLV + LAV = HIV, virus like Taxoplasma which affects the brain and eye, Cryotosporidum a diarrhoea virus, Herpes a mouth, anus, genital virus, cytomegalovirus i.e. retina of the eye virus, mycobacteria e.g. T.B. virus, Cryptocoicus for meningitis , pneumocystics for pneumonia and Kaposis's sarcoma for blood vessel cancer (according to one Uganda doctor known since late 60's) have been in existence. You'll notice that these are some of the opportunistic diseases associated with AIDS i.e. causing what are said to be symptoms to AIDS what I can't understand is HIV a combination of these virus or it is HTLV + LAV = HIV or we don't know?! 1. Wasting symptoms are Weight loss Diarrhoea Fever 2. Said Aids indicators Night sweets Herpes zoetes Herpes simplex 3. AIDS patients Oral rush Fungal skin infection Haematological problems Question as per point three and Karpas's LAV implies that AIDS precedes HIV or I am missing something? ------ Notes: deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the basic genetic material of the cell DNA contains four such bases the purines adenine (A) and guanine (G) and the pyrimidines cytosine (C) and thymine (T). Cell division which can clearly be seen through a microscope takes place in four phases prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. However, between the telophase and the next prophase a lengthy period called the interphase occurs, during which the chromosomes are too thin and strung out to be seen. Important chemical activities take place during the interphase. Ribonucleic acid (RNA), chemically related to DNA, and proteins are synthesized during the lengthy interphase as well as during the relatively short period of cell division. The RNA molecule, markedly similar to DNA, usually consists of a single chain. The RNA chain contains ribose sugars instead of deoxyribose. In RNA, the pyrimidine uracil (U) replaces the thymine of DNA _____________ Bwanika url: http://www.uganda.co.ug e-mail uhpl-AT-starcom.co.ug Bwanika-AT-telia.com tel: +256 (0) 41- 23 57 98 / 23 59 10 --- from list bhaskar-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
