Dear Jan (Tobin, Viren, all),

But this is perhaps to *split* or *replicate* in a dualistic way the
whole R > A > E schema. Of course, you're absolutely right - there are
spooks listening at every level. But not everything that is absent is
evil, and I think Bhaskar is very wise to suggest that evil is basically
parasitic on the good and that we should 'let go and let God' i.e.
forget about the spooks, *shed* them, and get on with our lives and
flourish (I don't mean 'let God' literally - I'm an agnostic).

I agree entirely re Tobin's post, which was also hilariously funny.
You've caused me to look at it again, and I can only wish that I'd been
quick witted enough to pay tribute to it when tribute was due. (I
responded to Viren without really cottoning onto the fact that the sock
was Tobin's! Still, I stand by what I said - esp now that I know that
Tobin said it first.) Vivre le chausette! (??)
