Bernard Lonergan's "Insight" was published in 1957, and Michael Polanyi's "Personal Knowledge" in 1958. Both, imo, provide clear examples of ontological stratification. They both, however, argue for an isomorphism between the structure of knowing and the structure of reality, and thus are vulnerable to criticism in terms of the epistemic fallacy.
