Hello all,

Regarding the 'identity' of thought and being in Bhaskar. I like the
fact that Jamie has linked this issue to Bhaskar's 'epistemological
dialectic'. I would want to focus in on exactly what 'synchronic
emrgent powers materialism' entails for the thought / being
(specifically idea / object) relationship, and the ramifications this
has for all the other philosophical issues, including the
epistemological dialectic. It seems to me that the notion of
emergence, especially as applied to the emergence of 'mind'
provides a fundamental constraint (and enablement) and on the
possibilities for DCR and TDCR, such that, in particular, any
positing of an identity between idea and object must be treated
carefully. In DCR there is 'constellational identity' for example.

I make this point because Nick H's review of the 'CR and Marxism'
collection seems to me to miss it, and thereby misconstrue my
arguments in that book -- and Nick is surely not alone in his
ineterpretation of these matters. In addition, I am curious to know
how TDCR relates to the above concerns (not having studied TDCR
myself).

Best wishes,

Andy
