Hi Mervyn, listers,

It is one thing to critically appreciate information John Holloway gives us
about the Zapatistas, which as an academic living for part of the year in
Brazil he is able to do.

It is quite another thing (and I do not suggest you were doing this Mervyn)
to agree with Holloway's anti-Marxist analysis of power, set out at length
in his recent book HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD WITHOUT TAKING POWER. Phil
Sharpe has written a lengthy critique of this book entitled "Just do it -
don't think about it!", about one quarter of which appears on the Movement
for a Socialist Future website at www.socialistfuture.org.uk in the section
named "Critique and Reviews". Sharpe contends that (unlike Marx and Lenin)
Holloway does not understand what alienation is in capitalist society, and
does not understand the role of well-considered theory in emancipating
humanity. (Rather than having a moralistic rant).

Best,
Phil
