Hi Bwanika,

I'm going to try again.  It seems to me that your claim that the social 
sciences have failed smuggles in the positivist assumption that the 
objective of science is "prediction and control."  From a realist position, 
however, the ability to predict and control is not the criterion for 
judging the validity of an explanation.  So the fact that social scientists 
are unable either to predict or prevent a gang rape, or an epidemic of gang 
rapes, is not a fatal criticism of our understanding of gang rape.
