For the most part, it seems to me that the last holdout for
psychoanalysis is in humanities departments. It has (quite rightly) been
expelled from most medical schools. The evidence against it accumulated
by Frederick Crews seems pretty decisive.

Freud (and his followers) treat both dreams and "everyday" life as
though they were literary constructs; the whole of this pseudo-science,
then, is a form of literary criticism, not of psychology or psychiatry,
which is probably why so many lit students still cling to it despite all
evidence to the contrary.
