Hi Tobin, and all,

important to psychological activities, and as I pointed out in another
discussion, some versions of "talk therapy" (such as cognitive
behavioral therapy) are known to be effective treatments for a
significant portion of
patients with depression or bipolar disorders. On the other hand, I
don't think that depth psychology's concept of stratification by itself
nominates Freudian psychoanalysis as a CR methodology (I'm very
skeptical). And I do agree that a lot of Lit-Crit types are glued to
Freudian ideas and are

with their commitment to the linguistic fallacy.

I'll agree with all that Tobin says here, when taking his notion about
language and imagery in very loose and broad terms. And with an account
of more sopihisticated psychological scientific 'tools' of dealing with
psychological problems.

I work as cognitive behavioural psychotherapist treating people with
their psychological problems. All these years I have studied critical
realist philosophical issues in TDCR and both of these I consider being
generally consistent in my daily practice.

I am very keen on following discussions in Bhaskar's list. Sorry, that I
do't have much time to contribute these discussions on these topics. My
philosophical interest here is how to import and have lay human being
and action in these philosophical problems. I think that this
dialectisation is not much more got DCR-lines recently. And that is very
interesting philosophcial problem, the issue of 'understanding' negation
and absence are so problematic in our daily living.

regards,
