p.s., Harre and Varela are just as suspicious of using "powers" rather "powerful PARTICULARS" as the unit of ontological analysis as they are of discussions of "causality."  In my view this is the crux of the metaphysical difference between Harre and (early) Bhaskar.  (I'm also the reference I know of for this.)
