About Walter Strauss's defense of the title: Blanchot both offers and
retracts the pages entitle "Le regard d'Orphee" as the center of EL, in
the note at the head of that book. But he doesn't give that title too the
book (oops--to the book), and maybe to call it well-chosen is too easy.
"Gaze," at any rate, may be the best word to use in translation, but it's
still a sucky word.
