To elaborate upon the possible sources for the "secret" group Acephale, I 
would add that one should definately look at Michel Leiris' "Miroir de la 
Tauromachie." It has been translated elsewhere (in October I think). It 
represents, among other things, the society's interest in the "sacred" crime.

I might add to the list of Hollier et al the book "Visions of Excess," a 
collection of Bataille's shorter works from the thirties and forties.
