Jeffrey Mehlman's "Legacies of Anti-Semitism in France" is a good 
place to begin finding out about Blanchot's involvement with the 
extreme right of French politics, but make sure you read the letter 
>from Blanchot expressing his "utter disagreement" with Mehlman's 
argument that is quoted in one of the endnotes. Mehlman's evidence 
and logic leave a lot to be desired. The only reliable way of 
getting a precise sense of Blanchot's politics in the 1930s is to 
read his contributions to "Combat" and the other journals of the 
time, but it takes an effort to get hold of them. I heard in passing 
that someone - but who? - was contemplating publishing all the early 
journalism but that Blanchot would not grant permission. I wonder if 
anyone knows anything about this. . .
