From: "Large.W" <stawla-AT-lib.marjon.ac.uk> Subject: MB: MB and Ontology Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1998 19:57:00 +0000 Concerning Reggie Lilly's comparison between Husserl and Blanchot. What is similar in their thought is the separation of sense and reference. Meaning is neither a part of the world, that is to say it not real, nor is it a mental event. It is therefore neither subjective or objective. The difference between them, and this is absolutely important, is that sense for Husserl, like Frege, is referential, whereas for Blanchot it is not. The word is not identical to the concept and it is for this reason that literature expresses the being of language. Furthermore to Lars's suggestion about reading a text about Heidegger and Blanchot is anyone else on this list interested? stawla
