		Dear Gary,

Have you been reading Nasio? David Pettigrew, his translator, has a
contract to render into English yet another Nasio, this one on love and
		pain via Lacan.

Are you going to IAPL? We sent a proposal for a panel on Archive Fever
(Pettigrew, Francois Raffoul, and myself) that, in the spirit of all
specters,
was somehow and beyond explaination "lost!" Lost? Impossible but true.
So, the fate of Archive Fever reamins, for now, suspended. It was a good
panel. If we are not given our 30 seconds there we will aim for SPEP.

I have just completed a paper on Levinas which I will present at the
up- coming Levinas conference in March.

A propos the MLA panel you are forming, can you tell me more about what
you are looking for? It would be fun to do this with you. I am, at present,
beginning to think about a paper on Blanchot and St. John of the Cross
but I don't think this would fit.

What about a further development of what I did at IAPL last year--on
impossible mourning and the generative failure of incorporation as
a paradoxical haunting: We are haunted by the other precisely to the
degree to which we cannot assign them a "proper place" either in
exteriority, as an Other, or in interiority, as a narcissistic
appropriation.

So, let me know if anyting like this fits and deadline for submission.

		Best wishes,
		Edward Emery
