this is a very good question, and something that i have been seeking out on
and off for years now. i honestly believe that the fact that there is nothing
out there in this regard says more than any text directly addressing this
question ever could.

i have yet to re-check this, but for whatever reason i was investigating this
topic in blanchot's essay on the narrative voice in the infinite conversation.
