Dear William

In 1943 Blanchot publishes an essay on George Bataille's L'Experience
Interieure, 'L'Experience interieure', Le Journal des debats, May 12, p. 3
and collects this essay in the same year in his first collection of essays:
Faux Pas, Paris: Gallimard. Presumably this isn't what has been included in
1945 as the preface to Bataille's Sur Nietzsche. However there is an
'Author's introduction' to Faux Pas which may be what Vattimo is quoting
from, given the essay by Blanchot on Bataille in this volume. Faux Pas was
published in translation in 2001, under the French title, by Stanford in the
Meridian: Crossing Aesthetics series, translated by Charlotte Mandell.

Blanchot's first essay on Nietzsche wasn't published until 1946 so that
rules that out!

With best wishes,

Susan Foale
