A rash of "unsub*scribe me" messages prompts me to wonder what I've got
out of the list in the couple of weeks I've been on it... and I can't say
I've got much out of the various mathematical arguments... habitus
divided by capital equals the square root of practice... or the various
kinds of hair-splitting and citing of chapter and verse...

So, what would I like to see on this list, if I too am not to
unsub*scribe?

To be honest, I am not that interested in "Bourdieu" as such--its what
his ideas and terminology allow me to do with my research materials that
I have read a half-dozen of his books and a few articles. My research
requires that I articulate a flexible interpretive explanation of the
phenomenon of bowing (whether Japanese businessmen, Buddhist monks and
nuns, etc.) in East Asia. Probably a boring subject for many of you. But
I'm sure you can all think of bits of PB's works that are stimulating in
this regard. I guess my question would then be, what are you using PB
for? What "objective" data are you casting a PB-informed eye on, and why?

Is anyone working on tattoos (I mean, writing about them)?
