Subject: Reading Bourdieu, introductory works

In his Key Sociologists series, Richard Jenkins suggests tackling
Bourdieu by starting with "Towards a Reflexive Sociology: A Workshop with
Pierre Bourdieu" in Sociological Theory, vol. 7 (1989), 26-63, and then
moving on to In Other Words, particularly chapters 1,2,3,8 and 13.
Jenkins also suggests reading Logic of Practice over Outline of a Theory
of Practice once you get to Bourdieu's major works. Although not
mentioned by Jenkins, I found The Inheritors (co-authored with
Jean-Claude Passeron) to be quite lucid and probably a good warm up for
getting into his sociology of education and social reproduction. Hope
this helps.
