        Its just a personal opinion - and its painfully PC, but I don't find
postings in other languages irritating -- after all the Bourdieu list is
hardly the most active list to which  I subscribe and its seems reasonable
that people from differing backgrounds should be granted a small space to
carry on their conversations even when I don't understand them. (Hell,
posting in English doesn't exactly guarantee coherence either). 
        I've seen this kind of question degenerate into an embarrassing
display of ill temper and small thinking on other lists - certainly
something much worse than an occasional email in Spanish, so I sincerely
want to avoid  fanning that fire. Mr. Gousgounis makes his point and
possibly those who are able will accommodate his request. When that's not
possible, I hope we can find some small pleasure in not having to read
everything that comes through the pipe,
