Its just a personal opinion - and its painfully PC, but I don't find postings in other languages irritating -- after all the Bourdieu list is hardly the most active list to which I subscribe and its seems reasonable that people from differing backgrounds should be granted a small space to carry on their conversations even when I don't understand them. (Hell, posting in English doesn't exactly guarantee coherence either). I've seen this kind of question degenerate into an embarrassing display of ill temper and small thinking on other lists - certainly something much worse than an occasional email in Spanish, so I sincerely want to avoid fanning that fire. Mr. Gousgounis makes his point and possibly those who are able will accommodate his request. When that's not possible, I hope we can find some small pleasure in not having to read everything that comes through the pipe, Hagen Finley Berkeley, CA ********************************************************************** Contributions: bourdieu-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Commands: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Requests: bourdieu-approval-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu
