Dear All

My response to Doug Dalton's query and to the comments so far 
circulated is that Bourdieu's own reference to Panofsky is to a very 
minor comment, as well it might be on Panofsky's part since 
introductions to Catholic theology (and I have dipped into a few) 
reveal `habitus' as a well established theological concept.  Since I 
am not a theologian, I won't bother anyone with references to what I 
happen to have come across by browsing, but hope that someone with 
expert knowledge may be able to cast better light.

One question arising from this is why Bourdieu is being so coy.
