I think that, along with a range of other sources, Henri Bergson may 
be part of the context of 'Habitus'. Bergson's contrast of intuitive 
versus mechanical ways of living focuses on the notion of habit, as a 
kind of sclerosis of life, which to a certain extent dehumanises 
those who live purely by its routines. I think the negative 
associations of Bergsonian habit may be behind Bourdieu's more recent 
attempts to emphasise the possibilities of agency and creativity.
