From: "Tobin Nellhaus" <nellhaus-AT-gwi.net> Subject: Re: Email virus warning Date: Thu, 13 Mar 1997 08:43:27 -0500 These "e-mail virus warnings" happen to be a hoax. I seem to get one every month or two. Several such hoaxes have been circulating for years. You *cannot* get a virus from an e-mail message. (However, an *attachment* can include a virus, if the attachment turns out to be a program.) There are several Web sites which list these hoaxes, including Symantec (http://www.symantec.com), the company which produces Norton Anti-Virus. When you get a message like that one, you can check with their Web site to see if it's one of the common hoaxes. Or, forward it to your e-mail system adminstrator and ask if it's real--these people usually play close attention to what's a true virus and what's just clogging up the e-mail. --- Tobin Nellhaus nellhaus-AT-gwi.net "Faith requires us to be materialists without flinching": C.S.
