Subject: Bourdieu panel

I am looking for discussants for a panel "Working the Field: : Bourdieu’s Sociology of
the Cultural Field" for the 1998 Midwest Modern Language Association conference in St
Louis Missouri (Nov. 5-7). The papers will address practical applications of Bourdieu’s
sociology of the cultural field, i.e., that put into practice concepts such as "field"
or "habitus." Discussant will be responsible for a 10-15 minute commentary on a paper
that s/he and the audience will have *read* before the panel. This should allow for some
 close commentary.

As I need to provide program information by the end of April, please contact me if you
are interested ASAP, with a brief description of you interests and affliation
information.

Thanks

John Westbrook
