Oh that I had the answer, Simon.  Seriously, though, the critique is one
which is based on using Bourdieu in my research.  I only critique adpects
of his approach because I draw upon him so much (thus my weariness of 'all
or nothing' discussions).  As my research could be described as sociology
of knowledge, and this has tended to slide into relativism in the past,
I'm tyring to epistemologically ground the work.  Bourdieu, it seems to
me, claims to do more than he can on this point.  My own feeling (and I'
am feeling my way in this area - the problem is one I am trying to define
rather than having a solution) is that some form of realism, perhaps
critical realism, may be compatible with Bourdieu approach and able to
help strengthen it.
