Im Leonel Gómez, student in the ITESO university in México.
I have a question that trouble my sleep at night.
The concepts of Habitus, field, Structure in Bourdieu theories implies a
specific sociological point of view. To see relations instead of
persons, to see structures instead of subjects doing something, to see a
dinamic process between Social structures-Habitus-Practices to explain a
subject behavior instead of seeing a subject doing action guided by a
free will. To think in a power relationship between dominants and
dominateds to understand a subject interactions with other subjects.
My first question is ¿do i get it?¿am i understandig the basic logic of
the theory of Bourdieu?

Another one. I read all the material i can get about Bourdieu theories,
but i am not sure to understand the concepts correctly.
For instance, there is a document made by Bourdieu about the aplicaction
of the theorie of fields in the fashion world, Bourdieu describe the
features of the dominants and dominated. I.e: dominants use more
structured sentences, use strategies to preserve power etc.
If i do the same, describe the features of the dominants and dominated,
describe the strategies used by boot and describe the total fighting for
power in the field, is it the correct use of Bourdieu theorie.

I hope you understand my english and that i was clear enough, and that
somebody could answer and so get my sleep back.
thanks.
