Subject: Re: Bourdieu and North American literacy education:good question Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 09:37:40 -0500 I recently wrote a chapter for the "New Update on Adult Learning Theory" (ed. Sharan Merriam, pub. Jossey-Bass) on critical and postmodern perspectives on adult learning. By including B. in this very broad overview I felt that I was using my power as author of the chapter to actually shift the direction of adult learning theory work for the next 5 or so years. I was supposed to survey what is being done in the field (including adult literacy) but B. hardly is being done. I hope I gave him good treatment in the 1 page out of 9 I gave him (space was very limited), because this book will be used in a lot of intro classes.
