I agree with Kent's position. In fact the one I believe to be one of the most hardest critic Bourdieu had (has really) is American sociologist Jeffrey Alexander, who intends to deconstruct his entire theorical structure, attacking particullary the solution to the macro-micro contradiction, which is really what the concept of habitus represents. That and also other concepts, such as unconcious strategies, the social class structure reproduction function fullfilled by academic institutions and education generally, and so on. Although, I recommend to have in mind this "critic" after the you gain an important trayectory over Bourdieu's work.
Is important to point at the fact that Bourdieu himself prevented his workshop's students against the dangers that an atomized american microsociology, or the neofuncional irreflexive and extremely theorical (revisionist in fact)macrosociological trend (that's Jeffrey Alexader's one) could have over the adequate (towards its object)dispositions an investigator is compelled to reach. Just look at "Pierre Bourdieu and Loic Waquant. An Invitation to Reflexive Sociology, Chicago: The University of Chicago Press and Cambridge: UK, Polity Press, 1992, 332p."
In french "Reponses: pour une Antropologie Reflexive", (I dont have the complete french reference, sorry) specially the second part of the book.
There you have a clear evidence of the anglo-american interpretation, 'cause there's a huge diference between Antropology and Sociology, and I believe Bourdieu did it on purpose to touch sensitive fibers within both sciences, =BFdisciplines?(In spanish the traslators respected "antropology").
