Date: Tue, 13 Aug 2002 14:07:31 +0300 (EEST) From: Sami Jarvinen <samjarvi-AT-cc.jyu.fi> Subject: About the critique of Bourdieu Karl Maton very wisely suggested getting to know the critique levelled at Bourdieu's theory in order not to get mesmerized by it. I couldn't agree more - being currently a victim of that very mesmerism myself. My next question would then be: what do you consider the most relevant and valid critiques of Bourdieu? Could you write down a list of themes or particular texts? (Much of the critique of Bourdieu that I've read seems to misinterpret him in many points, but certainly there exists valid criticism not to be missed.) best regards, Sami Järvinen university of Jyväskylä, Finland ********************************************************************** Contributions: bourdieu-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Commands: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Requests: bourdieu-approval-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu
