ANATOMY OF A CONFLICT: IDENTITY, KNOWLEDGE, AND EMOTION IN OLD-GROWTH FORESTS (Vancouver and Toronto: UBC Press/ East Lansing: Michigan State University Press). Satterfield uses a practice-based approach in her ethnographic and historical study of the conflict over Oregon's temperate rain forests that is deeply informed by the work of Bourdieu and other practice theorists including Dorothy Holland and Jean Lave (2002). Also, D. Holland and W. Kempton presented "New Social Movements in Ethnographic Perspective: Forms of Environmental Activism in the United States" at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association in November 1999. I don't know if it was subsequently published. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes, Alison Greene On Thursday, September 9, 2004, at 05:46 PM, justin karol wrote: > Hi all, > > Just putting the call out once more - is anyone familiar with the > appropriation of Bourdieu's theory or methodologies being used to > discuss our relationship with the natural world, environmentalism or > sustainability? > > Any help at all - even to say you don't know of anything would be > great, > > Cheers, > > Justin Karol (PhD Candidate, Monash University) > > _________________________________________________________________ > FREE* Month of Movies with FOXTEL Digital: > http://adsfac.net/link.asp?cc=FXT002.7542.0 > > ********************************************************************** > Contributions: bourdieu-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu > Commands: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu > Requests: bourdieu-approval-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu > ********************************************************************** Contributions: bourdieu-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Commands: majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Requests: bourdieu-approval-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu
