Hi,

I think the reservations about Yahoo have to do with advertising and the
occasional infiltration of its lists by spammers.  I'm on a couple of Yahoo
lists and this can be annoying to the point of unsubscribing.  Having said
that, I can't suggest any alternative other than using a university server.
