Date: Thu, 14 Sep 1995 20:12:22 -0500 (CDT) From: CND7750-AT-UTARLG.UTA.EDU Subject: Re: Re[2]: brains and refrains 'difference' and 'singularity' are terms in deleuze's vocab for finite, terminal, nonrecuperative end. this is why deleuze's concept of difference is quite 'different' than derrida's. _Bergsonism_ (sorry i don;'t have it with me so i can not giv eth page, but look in the index under space or matter) Deleuze argues that Bergson's notion of space is like i described earliert with regard to Nietzsche and force: it is matter that is space, matter does not mover through space. the notion of 'empty space' is very troubling to Deleuze, and he attacks it in any number of works, including D&R and TLS. i can think of many ways to link this rejection of empty space to the rejection of lack and negativity, which Stambaugh also mentions with regard to nietzsche in the references i have already given. i will drag them out if there are any signs of life from those who are sympathetic to negativity and empty spce. chris ------------------
