I think we must remember that the whole of the Western project as it
emerges from the Enlightenment is about producing a secular theology.  The
fact is that the Germanic vison/concept of Kultur triumphed within the
bourgeois scenario over the romantic  Dionysian vision. These are simple
things, one need not re invent them but merely know from whence one is
emerging. Post-structuralism in its mirad forms is commited to the
dismantling of the  residual metaphysics of the Enlightenment thought. The
circlarity of this thread tends to be a product of the fact that no one is
willing to admit that the past is always present.  The problems we confront
are not thirty and forty years old, it is only our understanding of them
that is that recent.
