Subject: Descartes Anniversary


ED:-thus no descartes; ideas are
as much out there as in here.  This is what the focus on movement/becoming/
event does in D's work:  it forces us to give up the inside-outside
distinction in precisely this sense.

D/G List,
It strikes me that on the occasion of Rene Descartes 500th Birthday at the
end of this month, we might dig in a bit on the issue sited above. I found
it most important (as a Heideggarian) that Deleuze is as interested in
overcoming the dualism that our dear Rene has befostered. It is the main
point that led me to understand the Liebnitzian association of soul with
differential calculus. (Le Pli, chapter on perception) and invevitably his
radical materialism.
