Daniel's post (quoted below) makes me think of Victor Turner's writings
on liminality--an intensive transition, if you will, moving through
anti-structure as one's social identy is re-formed or re-cast, as one
leaves an old status behind and after a period of being between states
emerges in a new state.

His post evokes for me the specter of having to negotiate such rifts
without being connected to others in anyway. I think I understand the
production of desire and the production of consumption as D & G describe
it. I would like to find more hope of experiencing the socius at a
material level than I do generally on this list which seems absorbed by
issues of subjectivity in isolation from connections with/relations to
the desires of others.

I also member that D & G make extensive use of Turner in AO--but they do
not mention liminality. Do some of you more expert than me know of other
sites where they cite his work?
