What a great subject header. I'd love to pursue this:
Samuel Delany comes to mind. DHALGREN is ruthlessly
nonarborescent, constantly nomadic, replete with machines assembling
forces, people, changing intensities, shifting grounds, reterritorializing
(plus there's that leftover family, a Family, all static and
spooky/hilarious in clinging to the old codes). STARS IN MY POCKET LIKE
GRAINS OF SAND makes this more formal, with the utopian/heterotopian
galactic alliance of free play, variation, perpetual smooth spaces and
reterritori.
