Narrative as veil is interesting I think (any Lacanians out there?)
(but if so, what it's masking can't be narrative? or maybe that's the point)

so Andy Miah *and me* are perhaps falling into a trap by discussing
naturalistic aspects of narrative,eg,

>Wasn't it so that Arnie could lead them to that little fella in
>what's-his-name's stomach, so that the bad guys could kill it? Pardon me
>if this is wrong, I missed the start.

(altho falling into a trap doesn't necessarily excuse obtuseness. I didnt
even get the bit about alien artefacts being part of the vacation
experience. And I still want to know what happened to the jolly fat lady
with the speech defect ... satire on Arnold himself as alien to the
'English' language? who has wrapped himself in a body-vehicle for safe
transportation? otherwise why would all the bad guys (etc) just stand and
watch his striptease?
is Quaid a bad guy who has become good by forgetting that he's a bad guy?
(wierd pathology) ... ritualistically he lobotomises himself by pulling a
bit of his brain down his nose on the instruction of a tv screen ("Do try
this at home") ... and then of course he penetrates Mars just like an
implant (or like a sperm o' course.. a great reckoning in a little room),
giving the planet a memory.
And that's just the trailer.
