I know that it's awfully anal and academic of me, but you'd have to back
this up with evidence. I was under the impression that European settlers
expended a huge amount of effort at all levels displacing Native Americans
and/or wiping them out. I was unaware that the 'lower classes' lived in
harmony with the people whose lands they were appropriating and
reterritorializing.
