From: "michelle phil lewis-king" <king.lewis-AT-easynet.co.uk> Subject: RE: dialectic Date: Fri, 8 Jan 1999 23:51:03 -0000 I can't say i'm following the thread in detail as such but I really enjoyed writing my last post on the dialectic problem, so much so that I opened a book and read this: .."it considers sense as a heterogeneous dynamic: a two-tiered dynamic where one approaches sense without attaining it, in an unnameable manner. This conception of sense functions thanks to an interest directed beyond the linguistic phenomenon to the experiences of the speaking subject, and particularly to marginal experiences such as psychosis or art. This seems to me to permit a new conception of praxis, a renewal of the Hegelian-Marxist dialectic at this level. This conception is opposed to the homogeneous direction of Hegels Absolute Idea, because this idea, even while negating itself, never negates itself in and of itself, in its identity. It remains enclosed in the totality of logical knowledge. My conception is also opposed to a certain Marxist humanism which echoes the idealistic dialectical totality of Hegel or concretizes it in the image of a providential proleteriat, reducing the negation only to a merely economic externality." Julia Kristeva 'The Speaking Subject.' I have a hunch that this is 'about' Deleuze. Phil (back) Also: I would think this is entirely (utterly?) relevant to (un)leash.
