hi Inna,
no doubt he would but the NPC doesn't just campaign 'against' ( the NUS -national union of students does that!) we generally act by providing repsonse to the various consultation documents around re potential changes in H.E e,g the repsective merits (or otherwise in my case!) of a national qualifications framework for Phds, or such dry, but politically crucial questions, like what is the best unit of assessment in the Research Assessment Exercise. Crucial, becuase, amongst other things, the funding basis forsome kinds of cross-disciplinary collaboration stands to dissappear if the cells are too large or if the'vocational' links between indistry too tightly drawn. knock it all you like but that illdefined 'space' called postgraduate research is the becoming-woman of the research world and, with the current obstacles to access which exist, this is much more as an ephemeral 'point' than as a line of flight.

if it is 'anti-Deleuze and Guattari' to try and make a difference within these frameworks, to collect postgarduate views and opinions and to try and feed these into policies that affect us than 'guilty' (sic) as charged

deleuze would say i think that campaining AGAINST would somehow
reinforce that what you're campaning against. His politics would be to get
into existing wave, to get into the movement. I think conforming to
strict requirements --still able to fit one's radical topic into those
boundaries--- makes these boundaries stretch and expand. That's what
transgression is in my opinion.

There are strong moves to appoint an ombudsman, but the sticking point on this is securing govermental and university ndependence, who, in short, watches the watchers and on what would its claims to being able to make a decision about a doctoral thesis reside? I would be especially interested in hearing about other models (or ideas about this problem) and what you perceive to be their strengths and weaknesses.
