Subject: PKF: =?iso-8859-2?Q?Would_Feyerabend_have_defended_Wittgenstein_and_Whorf_agai?= Date: Wed, 29 Mar 2000 11:44:05 +0200 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. Chomsky has called Wittgenstein a "language-parasite." Could he have been talking about himself? He's overly fond of creating hubris all around him, hypocrite lecteur, et al. Take the category: The ideology of mood, and let me tell you, these guys, those ilk floating around like amoeba in Chomsky's revolutionary effluvium, are in a bad mood. Revolution only satisfies for just so long before the essences of tyranny-through-administrative-apparatuses take precedence. Take the Bolsheviks on this, take Lenin, his internal corruptions. Wittgenstein spent his adult life on the edge of suicide, trying to clear the way to clear thinking. Would Chomsky say to Wittgenstein's ghost: "Wittgenstein, I would have been happier if you had denied your human impulses about language and life, and then, being so frustrated because of the pain of this denial, that you had done your suicide"? I must say the truth here: You cannot expect more from a man who supports terrorists. Chomsky=B4s criticism of Whorf has been equally biased, and as Whorf was a linguistic and behavioural relativist in a very similar vein to Wittgenstein, expect that their methods of explication differed, surely Feyerabend would have come to Wittgenstein=B4s and Whorf=B4s defense had he known that Chomsky had belittled them, and in such falst terms?
