i guess vitriolic unsubstantiated rhetoric is an accepted form of
response on a feyerabend list ;-). fortunately i tend to agree (if
only with a milder form of) the criticism of the horgan book. the
point however stands: leave horgan's analysis alone. if one can at
least assume that he is not putting word's in the old boy's mouth,
the popper quotes as far as i remember do not particularly present
a staggeringly humble man. all this is not central to the debate
on the merits of popper and feyerabend's contributions. my own
uneducated guess is that they are of very different natures. pkf
imho presented more than a philosophy of science - he was a
humanist in the larger sense of the word, while not being a stuffy
moralist.
