i must admit that my interest in feyerabend's works is a bit more practical
and political, than academic, and i am more than a bit intimidated by the
academic nature of exchange here (due to my lack of a formal background in
philosophy of science), which probably explains my limited success in
getting a discussion off the ground. however, i do hope in the near future
to spark something off regarding what seems to be part 2 of the "science
wars" (i already commented on the sokal affair, and recently, someone i
would call an e.o.wilson "fan" has written a book called "defenders of the
truth". add to that dawkins' publicity efforts on NPR, the "vocal left"'s
embracing of a particular vision (a scientistic one), homeopathy and
alternative medicine wars elsewhere, and the rather, imho, sad insights
gained by reading the lakatos-feyerabend exchange, especially into the
mind of lakatos, and the times seem rich for some analysis).
