Date: Wed, 27 Aug 2003 09:02:58 -0700 This reminds me a bit of my reaction to movies that get boycotted by certain groups. When I see people with picket signs standing outside of a theater, my first reaction is always to buy a ticket. Typically, what I find in those situations is that the movie has real substance and an important message. PKF's reaction to Popper also reminds me a bit of the reaction that late 20th century composers had towards Wagner: love-hate. Love him because he's so great; hate him because he overwhelms your sense of identity and point of view. PKF's remarks about KRP had more to do with finding himself than they did with serious criticism of KRP. PKF was clearly KRP's brainchild. -----Original Message----- From: owner-feyerabend-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu [mailto:owner-feyerabend-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu]On Behalf Of Rafe Champion Sent: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 1:56 AM To: feyerabend-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu Subject: PKF: Re: Pooper! Besides, why would I want to go and read Popper if his thought is so evident in Feyerabend's stuff...especially considering the incredible disdain heaped upon Popperians throughout all of PKF's writing? Sorry if I've come across as a bit of an asshole here....I swear that when I get round to discussing other e-mails (I'm talking about YOU here Dr. Muller) I'll be a bit more serious. O.K. That's it for now.... John Yes, as long as you ratain your critical faculties, your sense of humour and a burning interest in serious problems you don't need to read Popper. But check out my overview of his ideas in the link below.
